Massimo Lippi – Chief Sport Manager of Rome Offshore Speed Race 2013 and Technical Director Powerboat dpt . of “Club Nautico Roma Y.C.”.

The organization of the Roma Offshore Speed Race, main powerboat race in the Italy capital, that is held under the UIM Marathon Rule, has long been at work for the realization of the race to be held at the Tourist Port of Rome (Ostia) from 3 to 6 July 2013 .

After a “year 0” edition, which has raised the rating of the participants and all those who Italy and abroad have approached the event, this year promises to be an event even more exciting for some important synergies.

The Rome Speed Offshore Race 2013 is running with the colors of the Club Nautico in Rome?

It ‘s definitely the culmination of the work done last year: join this sporting event to a large Yacht Club as the Club Nautico Roma, affiliated with the largest in the world, can only bring prestige and place this event one of the most important Nautical landscape . The CNR for several years is the protagonist in the world of sailing in the capital with some important races and Rome Offshore Speed Race, race inspired by the historical Cowes-Torquay in England, is the ideal event to open the activities of the club also offer a powerboat show and City of Rome an exciting event and the highest level.

Pennant of prestige for the event then, but the beginning is the prelude to other activities?

The intention of the Club is to give Rome an event on the sea that it fits between the first top sports event in the capital. By the time reach the weight of tennis “ Internationali d’Italia” and the “Piazza di Siena Cup” International horses jump trophy, or as a sportsman historically offered by the capital.

What are the objectives and innovations of this year 2013?

We anticipated the date, on the instructions of the harbor of Rome, to optimize resources in the sea and make this event as the opening of the summer season, “ as plesure navivation” talking about.

New technologies give you the opportunity to follow the race around the world, thanks to a “live TV streaming”, which is proving so successful because of its ease of application, and we rely on greater involvement of the media, press and television, for which we will provide water resources in order to work following the live phases of the race

What drives at this time of great difficulty in the nautical sector and the economy in general, to organize an event of this magnitude?

Basically the innate passion for the Offshore races, sea in general and in all its forms. I think that in these difficult times we must react and not stop and Rome Offshore Speed Race is organized by many leading professionals, a team of competent people and a spirit that does not give the challenge dictated by these heavy contingent factors: we want to promote this event with a moment of attention to the Italian boat, we would like to bounce the headlines what is the work of hundreds of thousands of skilled workers who now find themselves without work in an industry that is the pride of Italian production. This type of racing is the expression of the rider and team, but also the design of the hull, construction, engine power, technicians and mechanics, an entire industry or, better yet, that industry craft at the highest level it has reached the pole position in the world market and then run aground with the nautical tourism. Behold the offshore raises boating, we would like this to become the leitmotiv of our next appointment.

Ambitious and interesting. You have the support of the institutions?

We have the full support of Vincenzo Iaconianni, Italian Powerboat Federation President ,who shares our project and provides the foundation technical contribution to sports teams to guarantee national and international. While we are already working to bring on the competition the leading figures from the world of sports and boating to give substance to the message that we want to launch at the event.

See you in Rome in July!
